If we talk about other believers who are made in his image, surly we are talking about God himself?
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of man he created him, male and female he created them.
The Hebrew root of the Latin phrase for image of God is imago Dei means image, shadow or likeness of God, or the dictionary definition is, A person or thing that closely resembles another.
If we are created in his image, what is that truly like?
In him we are creative, spiritual, loving, relational, intelligent, able to communicate, purposeful, you are moral, just in your actions, I really could go on at this point describing his ways, why not take time to see what God wants to revel to you about his image personally.
1 Corinthians 14 (message) says, Go after a life of love as if your life depended on it - because it does.
Love is the basis of everything as Christians we should be, therefore lets look for the good in people and encouraging the best to come out of others, as love covers a multitude of sins. We shouldn't be talking about others in negative ways , as humans we can be deceived into thinking that we are talking about that person in order to help them, but I urge you to think before you speak, if its not encouraging and uplifting then do not speak those words.
Words are very powerful and God himself created the world with his words, as we are created in his image then our words must be powerful too. Speaking negative words against others defiles you and is the opposite to what God does.
Matthew 5:16 says, its what comes out of your mouth that defiles you, its from the heart we make evil arguments, lies and cussing.
We don't serve a God who is negative and hateful, we serve a God who is loving, kind and generous.
We as believers should be giving hope to people whether they are saved or not, showing us to be the light of the world. This is definitely something that we all need to aspire to do in our everyday lives. Aim to be a reflection of God who created us in his wonderful image, to uplift, encourage and help all of mankind one person at a time.
1 Peter 3:16 says Keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
Ephesians 4: 31-32 says Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ.
If we are truly made in his image we will forgive as he has forgiven us, if we make a mistake or unintentionally upset someone and are made aware of it, ask for forgiveness, talk it through with that person, deal with it and move on. Do not hold a grudge with that person, make it right and do not remember any longer, communications is always the best option.
You are only responsible for your own actions so do what is right and make sure you live your life as a reflection of God in his true image.
James 3:9-10 says With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.
